Around 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left without power on the start of the week after intense storm systems swept through the area, bringing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.
Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Impact
Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Utility workers were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews working to handle the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, nearly one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered power outages after Melbourne recorded its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred calls for help across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At the height on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 power users in the state were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this coming days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity predicted across different parts of both regions.

Medical authorities warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
