Zohran Mamdani Pledges a 'Fresh Chapter' for The Big Apple in Inaugural Speech
On his initial day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “transform” the metropolis, ushering in “a new era” and an bold beginning to his tenure.

The 34-year-old political star, who just a year ago remained a virtually unknown state assemblyman, has become the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He also made history by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Islamic holy text.
